I was very disappointed in this place. It's overpriced with subpar food. It's more expensive than Ryan's Buffet with a much smaller variety of food. Then we were hassled by a timeshare seller when we were trying to leave. I will definitely be visiting Pigeon Forge again but this restaurant will not be on my list of places to go.

Good for it to be a sea food buffet away from the beach area. About the same price as one would expect from a sea food buffet. Crab legs are brought out and are not on the bar area. I had ordered the AYCE crab legs but after eating from the bar, I just could eat one helping. Our waiter was nice enough to only charge for what I had ate. I thought that was a very nice choice and I didn't ask for him to do that. Hostess was a little "shy" not looking at us or lifting her head, quiet spoken as well. I might eat here again but only if the price was lowered a bit. Items on the buffet were not unique to other sea food restaurants other than frog legs and crawfish.

Do not go here! The oyster there is not fresh at all! Feels like very disgusting! The crab lags need $10 more and it's not fresh either!

We chose to eat here for the all you can eat seafood and crab legs. I was a little concerned about the poor reviews on a lot of the social media sites but wanted to decide on my own. We arrived as a seven top, one child. My son is six... His meal was free. Everyone got the bar, I added crab legs. The crab legs were cooked as I ate them. The server timed the kitchen tickets just right so as I reached the last cluster of legs, the next plate arrived hot and ready to go. I ate four plates of crab legs, three clusters each. All cracked up nice and I was pleased. Server was there just enough to make sure glasses were topped off and that we were happy, but not enough to pester. She really did a great job. The bar was good. I only tried about half the food, but what I did eat was cooked properly and at the right temperature. Crab cakes needed a little more seasoning and crab, but that's my only food complaint. The sweet tea was great and the cheesecake was excellent. Now on to the rest... I watch Restaurant Impossible all the time, not that it makes me an expert, but I do notice things a little more. The 'low lying' fruit items are overlooked. The place needs fresh paint, several walls had visible cracks with peeling paint. Home Depot and some elbow grease would fix a lot of the issues in this establishment without breaking the bank. It looked like the bar area just received some updates, but with no one in the bar, I'd say the money was not spent wisely... Is it a seafood restaurant or a bar? Fix the cosmetics then worry about your bar... Fresh, properly cooked food in a well maintained eatery should be the focus. $20 a plate is not unreasonable for the food we ate... I'll be back Please check the buttons below to rate my review!

First off, my husband and I were so excited to see that Pigeon Forge had a seafood buffet! But we were turned off as soon as we read reviews of the place on google, urbanspoon and trip advisor. Being the kind of folks that we are we decided to just go and try it ourselves. The restaurant opens daily 3pm to 8pm. We got there at 245 and there were a few cars in the lot waiting like us. They opened right at 3, we walked in were seated right away. Our drink orders were taken and our soup, salad and hush puppies was brought to us right away. The food is hot and fresh and flavorful. Besides peel your own shrimp, stuffed shells, stuffed flounder, baked tilapia, shrimp scampi, fresh veggies and soooooooooooooo much more seafood dishes they also had baked chicken and chicken tenders for our kids. The buffet and dining area were very clean. The decor is old fashion I guess you could say. But we definitely had no complaints. Our servers were on their toes with refilling our drinks, clearing off our table when the plates were piling up. They also wrapped up our desserts since we were so full! The early bird special prices are $17.99 for adults, under 3 eat free, I'm not sure about the prices for kids in between the other ages. Crab legs were an additional $10. You're suppose to get about 1 pound but I'm more than positive I got almost 2 pounds of crab! ** If you LOVE seafood and know how to eat more than two plates at a buffet and really get your moneys worth, then come here!!! I am so glad I didn't listen to what all those people on all those review sites had to say because we would have missed out on an awesome place! Sometimes you just have to try it out for yourself!

Dispute all the negative reviews, my family of 5 decided to try it out. The food was great, service was great, the place COULD use a serious cleaning and updating, but other than that, it was a good experience.

Great place for all you can eat snow crab legs. They are fresh and decently big. They aren't cooked salty and it's not juicy to where it makes a big mess. The fried oysters was pretty good as well. The clam chowder was alittle on the salty side. The dessert included some good cheese. Cake. They prolly should add an ice cream yogurt machine. This place costs $30 with crab legs and $20 without(adults). I think the place would of been even better if it had prime rib/steak as well. And for the price, they should include a beverage as well. I would come back when I am in town just for the crab legs. I think the price should drop down to around $22.99-$24.99 with crab legs tho. Selection isn't much for the buffet bar.

If you want crab legs this is the place. The buffet was never empty and they were easy to crack.

I'm giving this place two stars because it is very misleading. The food was tasty but the selection was limited to lots of fried seafood options. There were no crab, (besides legs, that were an additional $10) no lobster and sushi. The waitress we had was useless, we had to call on another waitress to help us. They could have had more options. It is definitely not worth the money even with the travel coupons you find all over.

Wouldn't eat there again on my first plate a found a long hair on that fry fish. I got the manager she did not care and didn't apologize. I do not recommend this place

Don't go. Save your money. I could of guessed that being that we are so far away from a beach that there is pretty much no way it will be fresh.. It's all over priced and over cooked. Cracker Barrel has better fish...

Decided to give this place a shot because the husband loves seafood. I like the fact that they gave me a one trip option at a lower price. The food was good but average. The vibe inside whew!!! It sort of felt like a disco lounge with the colored rope lights and mirrored walls lol. Not too bad if you like seafood.

I would love to give this more but the food was just ok. For the price it needs to be way better. Yes I was full after leaving but it was clearly a quantity over quality here. Of course in the mountains and who eats seafood. But three days ago I had bubba gumps and it was terrific. Server was good. Anyway get better food or lessen price.

Aside from the frog legs and New England Clam Chowder, this place pretty much stunk. The seafood was overcooked or simply tasted bad. The raw oysters looked inedible. The buffet prices were too high for the lack of taste and improper cooking of seafood. Go somewhere else.

  • Keeia D.

Don't. Just don't. From poor service to them not being able to keep food out on the buffet to the food not even being edible. Don't waste your money here.

  • Rob M.

Its ok. The food reminds me of the quality of a Chinese Buffet. I can't speak to the crab legs which will cost an extra $10, but it looks like the same you would get at a Chinese Buffet also. they seemed to have a little problems keeping up with the food bar and the tables were sticky. It was just ok.

Costs at 19.99without crab legs or 29.99 with, the place is fun to get in. We came in late, after morning driving from the Great Smoky NP, and found the restaurant located conveniently along the highway. Foods were not great, but not bad neither. Come into this part of the world looking for fresh seafood itself was not right. Anyway, fun to stay with friendly waitress, still a solid choice to treat ourselves good after a long day in the NP.

If there is 0.5 star, I'll give that rate. Slow drink serve, less varieties of food, the flavor is not good enough.

Renee, our waitress, was awesome. Crab legs were phenomenal. When they ran out of dessert I brought it up to her and within a minute she had the delicious pumpkin pie out and it was awesome. Definitely will return if in the area again.

We were a little concerned after reading the reviews but our quest for seafood on a Friday in lent still had us thinking about the crab legs on the sign out front. We were not disappointed! The crab legs were good and plentiful! Our server was attentive quickly removing our used plates and discard basket. Not a fancy place. Fried catfish and shrimp were good. Crabcakes were terrible. Short version of my review- if you want all u can eat crablegs, this place is for you. If you want high quality food-this is buffet quality and this place is not for you.

  • Jon Q.

If you come before 5pm its like $17.95. All you can eat Crab legs and the buffet is $35?. As with any buffet not all the items are tasty, but for seafood I go for peel and eat shrimp and oysters, no complaints there and I probably got my fill with those and a few more. There are a few fish also that werent bad, just have to try. You can take desert with if too full. Our server had humor, which adds to the meal. If you can find a few items which are your favorite you will get a deal in town, unlike a Grandma's restaurant in town which we couldnt find one thing we liked.

I don't know why this place gets bad reviews. Both times I went to Gatlinburg we stopped here. We had the same great server each time. There's a wide variety of seafood and one of the best parts for me was as soon as I sat down I had an ice cold glass of water waiting. It was never empty and boy was it hot those days so this definitely hit the spot. It will always be a stop for us when we go to Gatlinburg.

My husband and I wanted crab legs and was trying to try something different. We should have just went back to Crawdaddys in Gatlinburg. When we arrived we were greeted by young girl who told us that the buffet was $19.99 and with crab legs would be $29.99 for all you can eat everything. The food on the buffet tasted as though it had been out for a while and wasn't very good. The raw oysters were so dry and gross I about gagged. The only thing that tasted ok to eat other than the crab legs was the loaded baked potato. This was a true waste of money. Our waitress Renee only greeted us and after that we didn't see her until we got our check. Crab legs ran out and people were standing around waiting for them to be refilled for about 10 to 15 minutes by that time he wasn't hungry anymore. Totally disappointed in the quality and will not return or refer anyone to eat here. Even talked to the Manager and he said he would only take off the crab legs an got a different waitress just take off the cost of the crab legs. The total for our meal was $45.00 that we had to pay for a meal that I didn't even enjoy. Not worth a photo trust me!

If you want great service this is the place to go! If you want food that borders mediocrity, stop here. Most of the seafood was over cooked, and the raw oysters were not fresh. The crab cakes I experienced here did not have any lump crab in them. The blackened catfish was not true blackened. I would not return.

Terrible! Poor choice in food and quality... Crappy service and the bathrooms were destroyed!!!!!!! Only gave it one star because you have to!!! Alerted the management and they did nothing.... Screw this place

Good seafood with an all you can eat crab leg option for around $35. Normal buffet was $19.99 Crab leggs were a good size, nothing scrawny and they were tastey and cooked perfect. Hush puppies were amazing. Wish I had the recipe. Buffett had a large assortment of fish both fried and non-fried. There was even some frog leggs that were plump and juicy on the bar to enjoy. They also allow ordering from the menu for those who are not into seafood. Our server was awesome and johnny on the spot with refills and the desert tray and bill come pay time. Some of the other staff seemed nice enough but in appearance could have been body doubles (Tattoos, scruffy beards, scars, ect) for anyone on that show deadliest catch. Appropriate enough I guess.

After reading the terrible reviews I was hesitant to eat here, but we decided to give it a try and it was really good. Great selection.

First, the boiled shrimp were very good. That was my favorite thing. That is why they are getting three stars and not two. The service was great, I sat near the bar and both waitresses working there checked on me quite often, making sure I never ran out of diet coke. The standard buffet was $19.00 and I didn't pay the extra $10 ($29.99) for the crab, but they looked large, and well prepared. I kind of wish I had because the rest of the buffet was not as appealing. I'm not sure how people eat the amount of crab legs I saw them eating. Mindboggling. The rest of the buffet was not as appealing. Bay scallops don't really make for a good buffet selection because they continue to cook on the hot bar. Most everything was fair, not great, not bad. The interior is "night club" like because after 9pm they become a full blown bar. So, I like Joe's better, it's not all you can eat, but the atmosphere is better. Jim's is just fine if you are just wanting a huge amount of crab.

Their being closed was the best part of the experience: The Sign on the door said they opened at 3 PM daily. It said nothing about closing at 5:30. My wife and I arrived at 6 PM to find the doors locked. Peeking into the windows we saw steam rising from the buffet table, and a woman in a chef's uniform walking the line. I tapped the glass to get her attention, and she gestured me off, walking to the only occupied table in the place, apparently all staff. While my wife was looking through all the tourist books to find the next alternative, I saw two servers taking a smoke-break outside and approached them. Apparently, they had very poor sales from 3-5, so they closed early. I guess if the Altacockers and earlybirds don't want their food, the rest of us are out of luck. The server in question lamented to me how often this happens, and how desperate she is to get a new job where she can actually get some tips. She also admitted how poor the food quality and cleanliness had gotten. By the time she was done telling me just how nasty this place was, the parking lot was half full of other disappointed diners who would have to find another place to eat. Needless to say, we decided that *ANYWHERE* else would be a better choice. Well, there was one other good part: No one interrupted our meal to try and sell us a time share this time.

We had a delicious meal here, and if we stayed in TN longer, we would go back. I really liked the cold salad items and had wonderful garlic Parmesan oysters. The clam chowder topped all and I wish I would have bought some to take home. For dessert they offered strawberry shortcake or chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. I tasted both and the chocolate was a bit stale. I chose the strawberry shortcake and it was very good, a nice light ending for my meal. There were so many buffet items that I didn't get to try about a third of them because I was so full! I thought the price was fair for a seafood buffet and we had very attentive servers for our group of 13.

There was nothing redeeming about the food served at this restaurant. Well, the cake served for dessert was moist and delicious, but everything on the buffet was dry, mushy, and/or tasteless. The waitresses were friendly enough and attentive.

  • Drew C.

Complete wasteof money, i was expecting some things that were not offered and the food quality was just terrible. I tried most things here to try and find something that I consider edible. The only thing that was even remotely good was the New England clam chowder. This place is a slap in the face to any place that serves real seafood.

We stopped by to give it a try. 19.99 per person. At 6pm I took a look at the buffet. It was pretty empty, few people in the restaurant and nearly everything was fried, dried and over cooked. Few veggies. We walked out as did another couple we met on the way out. They too were dissatisfied

Pros: 1) Great service bordering on overbearing. 2) 1lb of crab legs added on to buffet for $10. And they actually tasted good. 3) Free hush puppies! 4) The clam chowder (included in buffet price). Dear god, the clam chowder. Mmmm. 5) Dessert included in the buffet price. Cons: 1) So many waitresses came to our table asking us if we were doing ok, that I couldn't even tell which one was actually ours. 2) Hardly a selection to choose from. Had almost nothing for kids that don't like seafood. 3) The crab cakes were dry and over seasoned. 4) Both the stuffed shells and stuffed flounder were so dry. 5) The carrot cake tasted chemical. 6) The people in front of us at the register were locals and were joking around with the workers like they come in every day. I don't mind that part, but it was a slap in the face when the hostess only charged them $9.99 (the kids price) and we had to pay $29.99 each for food that wasn't even that good. 7) On our way out, a timeshare guy that had a booth set up in the lobby stopped us. He was old so he was a talker and we could barely get a word in to tell him we weren't interested. Another 10 minutes of my life I'm not getting back. 8) The employees wore these really hokey sailor hats. Ugh. 9) While I was waiting for my credit card to go through, the hostess called out to one of the waitresses and asked if, "these were Melissa's" then held up a pack of cigarettes. I hate going to restaurants and seeing the employees smoking out back or where my waitress smells like smoke. In a perfect world, my waitresses would have to scrub in and were hazmat suits before they handled my food. I would not recommend Captain Jim's because the quality is just not worth the price.

NO Way!!!! This place is TOO expensive for the caliber of food you get!! The food was just OK and if it hadn't cost us (2 adults and an 8 yr old) $60+ for our meal I wouldn't give such a low rating. The Calabash shrimp were very good, but we all had a hard time eating $20 worth of popcorn shrimp. BTW, if you ignore my review and try it anyway be aware....drinks are an extra $2...not included in the $19.99/person you pay to eat here. We will not go back to this place! Could have eaten at one of the more expensive steak joints for a cheaper price and been much more satified when we left with our very light wallets!
